Toyota Prius 2010 Recall Message

Dear Valued Toyota Prius Guest,

Today, Toyota announced the voluntary recall on the 2010 Prius to update the vehicle's anti-lock brake system (ABS). The ABS, in normal operation, engages and disengages rapidly (many times per second) as the control system senses and reacts to tire slippage. Some 2010 model year Prius owners have reported experiencing inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of brakes on rough and slick road surfaces when the ABS is activated in an effort to maintain tire traction.

Toyota has responded to owner concerns with a running production change in the 2010 Prius which improves the ABS system's response time, as well as the system's overall sensitivity to tire slippage.

The recall will allow us to perform the software update on 2010 Prius vehicles sold prior to this running production change. Our technicians have been trained and we have the necessary software to update your vehicle. You will be receiving a notification letter from Toyota.

I have included a Q & A that may answer other questions you have. I also want to assure you that your vehicle is safe to drive.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support.

Sincerely,

  1. I don't think that the problems Toyota is currently experiencing will ruin their reputation as a safe and quality car manufacturer!
